Video Localization

Description

High precision ego localization is a prerequisite for autonomous driving. To overcome localization difficulties of satellite based navigation (multipath propagation, shadowing etc.) the MRT developed a method for high accuracy vision-only localization.

Initially a survey trajectory of stereoscopic images is harnessed to automatically create a visual landmark map. Thereafter a mono image can be used for map relative localization. The algorithm yields centimeter accuracy in challenging urban environments.
